I recently started driving for Bolt and Uber, and two critical missing features make driving using the platform less safe for drivers.
1. Excluded Zones
As a driver, please allow me to set a limited number of areas I do not wanna drive to as destination, nor pick riders from. This is a critical requirement. To prevent drivers abusing that feature and essentially blacklisting everywhere on a map except one area, the option could be very limited in how such zones are set.
In almost every conversation I’ve had with drivers, a few particular neighborhoods keep popping up. Instead of constantly checking requests if they fall into my ‘forbidden’ zones, just allow me to set, perhaps up to 2 excluded zones by 500-1000m radius. That’s it!
2. Minimum Distance for a Ride
I don’t want to take rides less than 1km in distance. Simple! That’s it!
I want rides that goes from Haatso to Airport, or Madina to Tudu, or Pokuase to Circle.
NOT Atomic Junction to Haatso KFC, or Okponglo to Shiashie.
Yes, I understand many drivers prefer to do MANY rides, as that comes with different bonuses and or campaigns. However, others, like myself don’t care. Shorter journeys bore me, they’re less fun, and typically doesn’t fetch much money.
I prefer to actually move people from A to B, not A to Aa 😒
Conclusion
Considering Bolt nor Uber will NEVER implement such functionality, I’m considering working out a custom solution integrated with Bolt or Uber, and get that functionality for myself.
It is such a simple feature, but will greatly improve MY driving experience.
